On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, data stewards and other people working in research support met for an exchange meeting at the Medical University of Graz. This exchange was supported, among other activities, by the national BMBWF project “Shared RDM Services & Infrastructure”. The universities represented were the Medical University of Graz (Peter Schaffer, Therese Macher, Gudrun Kainz, Andrea Groselj-Strele, Gerhard Hasenberger), the Graz University of Technology (Alexander Bardel) and the University of Vienna (Michael Feichtinger). At this meeting, experiences and strategies in the introduction and operation of the electronic lab notebook solution eLabFTW were exchanged and discussed. Furthermore, the recent development of the Austrian ELIXIR node and the associated potential for advancing research data management at national level were discussed. During the meeting, it was also decided that this exchange should take place regularly and that other institutions are also very welcome. In the long term, the aim is to establish a community in Austria that deals with the topic of electronic lab notebooks at a national level and develops solutions together.
