Similarly to the already institutionally anchored activities in the area of Open Access, Open Educational Resources (OER) are beginning to establish themselves at universities and are meeting increasing interest among university teachers, students and management levels. “Educational skills” are also grounded in the EU Open Science Policy as one of the key “ambitions” that researchers need when practising Open Science. (European Commission, 2019) In addition to building up skills in the use and creation of OER, their accessibility and visibility is of central importance in ensuring the acceptance of OER in the long term. Thus, in addition to publications and research data, the requirement of making content from university teaching available in the long term is increasing.
“Open Education Austria Advanced” – a project of Austrian universities – contributes to uncover synergies from Open Science and Open Education at the interface of libraries, central IT services and e-learning centres. The project team contributes with a multi-layered national service package and infrastructure for OER to the free use of educational content from teaching and to establish open practices like established in the field of research.
This webinar will show you more about the current status and developments of OER activities in the Austrian higher education sector and helps you explore synergies from Open Science and Open Education.
