Description

You have heard of GitHub, or GitLab, but are not sure whether such git-based systems are suitable for you? Version Control Systems facilitate effective collaboration between people. Although these tools are mostly used in the field of Software Engineering, they are not limited to this use case.

The aim of this workshop is to learn how to manage your code, data or even text documents, so that you don’t lose track of versions, and can share it with others. You will learn about the basic concepts of git and tools that support researchers in working with git repositories. After a discussion of the theoretical content, practical examples will demonstrate how to efficiently work with the existing GitLab instance operated by the TU Wien. The practical part will also contain scenarios to demonstrate how to avoid or fix common pitfalls.
