Description

“Data, like all other things in this universe, will tend toward chaos if not occasionally provided with energy” (Kristin Briney 2015). Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (ZAMG) was founded in 1851 and has a wide variety of historical and current data sources at its disposal – from handwritten climate sheets to satellite images and the Internet of Things. What makes data management at such an institution special are, among other things, special data formats, very large data volumes and a long tradition of international agreements and legal obligations for open data exchange. The new ZAMG Data Hub was launched in October 2021.

Speakers

  • Monika Bargmann, ZAMG/University of Vienna.
  • Hannes Rieder, ZAMG.
